Today's Minute is sponsored by: Island Housing Trust

Watch our film about repurposing a bed and breakfast and creating rental housing for hospital staff. Our hospital has 150 unfilled jobs. The lack of affordable housing is one of the big reasons. You can help solve our Island's year-round housing crisis by clicking here and donating now.
100 housing units
A plan is underway to potentially get 100 housing units into Oak Bluffs. The development would be targeted for affordable workforce housing. The group behind the effort is also planning more than 60 housing units in Edgartown. Get the details here.
Relocation approved
This week, Island Grown Initiative received unanimous approval from the Martha’s Vineyard Commission to relocate its food distribution operation to a new and permanent home at 114-116 Dukes County Ave. in Oak Bluffs. With around 20 percent of Islanders registered at the Island Food Pantry, Island Grown Initiative says the new space will help serve the growing population impacted by food instability. Here’s that update.

Quote of the Day
"From my point of view, Lyme disease is still the most common and probably the most prevalent tick-borne disease on-Island. We have the most cases [of Lyme] each year. But I would almost want to call alpha-gal syndrome the fastest growing. And I feel like that’s really just closely tied with the increased spread of lone stars across the Island."
— Patrick Roden-Reynolds on the increase in lone star ticks and alpha gal syndrome on the Vineyard
