No injuries were reported after firefighters from multiple towns put out a house fire on John's Way on Wednesday afternoon. Homeowner Tommy Morrison told The Times that he was able to escape with his wife and dog, and he watched firefighters cut holes in his attic to put out flames that had traveled up the chimney. Nearby roads were closed for about an hour. Read more |

A thousand Islanders might have to scramble to find a primary care provider as the owners of Vineyard Medical Care say they can no longer run the business. The lease will end in May, posing what a medical director said could be a public health disaster. The business's search for a new tenant has been unsuccessful thus far. Meanwhile, the largest healthcare provider on the Island, the hospital, has a waitlist approaching 1,000 people. Read more |

Our publisher Charles Sennott writes that the global movement of people seeking to flee tyranny, poverty, and violence, or to search for freedom in a distant land, is a continuum of human history. It is as ancient as the biblical Book of Exodus, and as modern as demonstrations this week at Vineyard Haven’s Five Corners in solidarity with the Brazilian community, held amid fears of mass deportations. Waterview Land, West Tisbury
The Tower Hill land, once known as the Dancing Hills, is considered by many a sacred Island space. Standing on the ridge top, you're at one of the highest points on Martha's Vineyard. This 3.01 acre parcel looks out over the trees of Red Farm and the dramatic blue expanse of Vineyard Sound. It's easy to understand why this property is so special. There's a generous designated building envelope of 1.41 acres to allow a Buyer to build a significant house with multi level views of the water and additional structures with proper permitting. Thoughtful planning and preparation of the Tower Hill Declaration for the area creates a deeded view easement and greenbelt area to preserve the serenity, privacy and experience of being surrounded by nature while still being minutes away from West Tisbury center.
