Bald eagle pair welcome sight for birders

A recent photo of bald eagles on Lagoon Pond was a welcome sight for Island avian enthusiasts, who say the photo serves as a reminder that bald eagles, and nesting pairs, have become more common on the Vineyard. While there's no way to tell whether these two are a nesting pair, the photo also comes as confirmation of any bald eagle born on the Island remains to be seen. Read more


Smooth sailing

The Steamship Authority is reporting that the opening reservation day for the general public on the Vineyard route went well. We’ve heard the same from the public. Our Island rep attributes the success to progress by the Steamship’s new IT director. Read more


Defend the flock

As the state combats bird flu, Island poultry owners are working to keep their flocks safe. While there isn’t widespread concern among farmers, limiting interactions with people and cleaning up after birds have been employed to minimize any potential impact from the virus. Read more


Rivals defeated

The Martha’s Vineyard hockey team took down the Nantucket Whalers at home on Saturday, 4–1. Despite having a plethora of penalties called against them, the Vineyarders outshot Nantucket with a dominant performance by Hunter Johnson and Adrian Alberghini on the wings of Griff Calahan. Read more
