Got a minute?
Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.
The holiday season is upon us, so maybe it’s time to look back on some classic stories fit for the winter. On this day in 1843, Charles Dickens published "A Christmas Carol," a now iconic holiday tale. Maybe this is a good time to think back on how to be living life before any ghosts come to visit. ‘Treated like people’
For the first time in nearly a decade, Martha’s Vineyard’s only winter shelter has reached capacity. With the majority of the shelter’s occupancy employed year-round, and actively involved in the Island community, Harbor Homes reps are calling for more support to help meet the demand. In our story, we talk to a few people who are relying on the shelter this winter. Read more here.
Nationwide threats reach Hebrew Center
Hundreds of bomb threats were made to Jewish institutions this past weekend, including to the Hebrew Center on Sunday morning. The center received a threatening email that was also sent to around 20 other synagogues statewide. Rabbi Caryn Broitman says that police response was immediate, and that nothing dangerous was found at the center. Read more here.

Take me out to Argentina
One slugger from the Vineyard is taking his talents to Argentina. Specifically, as a member of a Brazilian national baseball team. Bryan Sornas grew up playing baseball on the Island, and he shared what his journey in the sport was like. He’ll also be playing at Worcester Academy. Read more here.

Staying in?
The holidays just got a little sweeter with this recipe shared by the Knight-Morris family on Chappaquiddick a decade ago: Cinnamon-Raisin Bread, or Swedish vetebröd. Chappy ferry captains have enjoyed slices of this loaf for many years.
