Baiting for joy

The Kids Derby was held over the weekend. It’s an annual event where the masses descend upon the Oak Bluffs Steamship pier and cast for fish. We’ve got a list of winners here. We also have the latest of who is who on the regular Derby leaderboard. Read more


60 for 60

The first class to graduate from the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School celebrated a big milestone on Saturday. Originally planned for 2020, the class of 1960 celebrated their 60th reunion. We were there and got all the gossip, or at least found out what life was like when first opening a regional school. Read more


Varsity soccer splits double header

In a mixed outing against rival Nantucket, high school girls’ soccer won 5–2 while the boys fell 2–1. The girls got up 4–0 before Nantucket scored, and the boys took the field without their head coach. In junior varsity, the girls also won while the boys lost, and varsity field hockey was defeated. Arts of Crafts

Fifty artists in the making from the Cape and Islands, Fairhaven and New Bedford submitted ferry-themed work to the Steamship Authority, which gifted 14 winners a $100 SSA gift card.
