Amid significant delays in the town library’s HVAC project, West Tisbury’s town administrator has asked a contractor for time estimates on 19 remaining tasks, and reserved the town’s right to recover damages. Both the Vineyard boys and girls varsity hockey teams – after back-to-back battles at home on Thursday night – had their postseason hopes dashed in an emotional finale, each falling by one goal in the final moments. The girls lost to Pembroke 3–2 in overtime, and the boys lost to Northeast Metropolitan 2–1, netting an equalizer they needed for overtime just moments after the buzzer. Tuesday's Name This Islander was an easy guess for Devin Healy, who was surprised to see his own face in The Minute. "I almost cried laughing because, well, it is me,” he wrote to us from Florida. “That is absolutely hilarious and my chin hair embarrassing." The photo brought back good memories and reminded him of life on-Island. “What I miss most is the community. It is what is lacking nationally now, and the Vineyard still has it and that speaks volumes,” he wrote. |
