The search is on at the SSA

The Steamship Authority is looking within its own ranks to find a new chief operating officer, a key position that plans all of the ferry line's marine, engineering, and shoreside activities. General Manager Robert Davis anticipates a decision this coming week. The search has generated some controversy from citizens who feel that the ferry line should first find a replacement for Davis, who will resign this year, before picking a COO. Read more

East Chop Bluffs restoration greenlit

After years of delay, Oak Bluffs has approved modifications to the $17 million East Chop Bluffs restoration project. The Martha’s Vineyard Commission approved amended plans to protect the nearby residential area from the impacts of climate change, and work is expected to take place by the end of this year. Chilmark releases community center report

A town committee has released its final report on the management of the Chilmark Community Center. The report leaves open the option for the town to issue a request for proposals for the center's summer management, and recommends changes at the center to expand programming options for year-round residents. The Mill Brook Watershed Management Committee invites you to hear the results of their study of the brook. It's the most detailed ecosystem data yet on the area, and covers water quality, flow volume and system habitat quality. It's from 1 pm to 3 pm at the West Tisbury Library.
