High school players take on the high seas

All aboard for 'Anything Goes,' the high school Performing Arts Department's latest production. Set on an ocean liner sailing from New York to London in the 1930s, the high-energy production features a comical cast of sailors, snappy dialogue, and tap dancing. The Times caught up with student performers to hear the story from behind the stage. 'Anything Goes' is showing at 7 pm today through Sunday. Read more

Turkeys presumed positive for bird flu

Samples from the turkey flock found dead in Edgartown show preliminary positive results for bird flu, according to a state laboratory. The Friday announcement is the first official indication of the disease on Martha’s Vineyard. Brice Boutot, Edgartown Health Agent, says his advice for the public has not changed — avoid diseased birds and protect your animals from exposure. Read more

A public, perennial foraging area might be coming to your town, as research is ongoing to identify public lands for the projects. Landscape designer Mary Sage Napolitan, who is behind the scouting work, says bolstering year-round food supply can help fight food insecurity, increase the Island’s resilience in an emergency, and support local biodiversity.
