A Steamship COO

The Steamship Authority has chosen Mark Amundsen as its new chief operating officer. Amundsen, formerly the Steamship's director of maintenance and engineering, is now responsible for planning and directing at the ferry line. He will also oversee all activities related to the Steamship's marine and shoreside operations, and its engineering departments along with the communications center. Read more


Swimmers set three school records at states

High school swimmers recorded their school's best-ever performance at state competitions this weekend, setting three school records. Kaua De Assis broke his own school record for the 50-yard freestyle, and the swimmers set records in the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay. The team placed 26th out of 48 in the state. Read more

Vineyard Offshore eliminates 50 positions

Amid a period of uncertainty in the offshore wind industry, Vineyard Offshore has eliminated 50 of its positions in the United States and Europe. A spokesperson for the company, founded by the same team that established Vineyard Wind, did not say whether any of the people laid off were from Martha's Vineyard or southeastern Massachusetts. Edgartown Stop & Shop remodeling pharmacy

Stop & Shop in Edgartown is looking to complete a remodel of its pharmacy by the summer, with the intention of creating a dedicated area for immunizations. Spokesperson Stephanie Cunha told The Times that the location's pharmacy will remain open during the project. Read more
