Got a minute?
Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.
Around this time in February 2012, Tisbury first responders prepared to move into their brand new home — a $5.5 million, approximately 18,500-square-foot emergency services building. The facility has been used extensively since then, including serving as the designated area for Tisbury residents to cast their vote for local, state, and federal elections. Zoning in on proposed changes
Oak Bluffs is looking at potential changes to its zoning bylaws, but not everyone agrees on the approach. The goal is to meet the growing demand of businesses by creating new overlay districts. However, some residents are concerned about the negative impact this may have on the town. Read more here.

Finding a path
Use of one of five tennis courts may be the temporary cost of constructing the Chilmark Preschool. As told to the select board, builders plan to protect the court with mats while heavy machinery moves over the court for eight months. In May 2025, the court will have been restored, and lighter machinery will travel a route behind the Chilmark School. The preschool is scheduled to be complete by fall 2025. Read more here.

Brown Thrasher on the decline
The beautiful and once abundant songbirds are on a statewide decline, becoming a rare sight for birdwatchers as the years pass. The statewide decline can be attributed to the lack of proper habitats for the bird, but their disappearance on-Island has seemingly no explanation. Read more about it here.
