North Atlantic right whales #4120 and #5110 were spotted in danger recently 50 miles southeast of Nantucket. NOAA biologists say both are injured, but the juvenile male pictured here may not make it. The federal agency has not responded yet due to where the whales were spotted, but they are monitoring the situation. Read more |

Tisbury held a special town meeting last night, ultimately approving a big-ticket item for Vineyard Haven library renovations. Island Health Care opened its new Dental Center in Edgartown on Sunday, aiming to meet the medical needs of underserved communities. The center's mission is to care for unhoused Vineyarders, immigrants, and families who rely on insurance for care, and its waitlist has over 1,200 patients and is climbing daily. Officials are optimistic that they can contact everyone who is now on the list by mid-January. Read more

The MVRHS boys basketball team was looking strong to start their season opener at home last night. They took a lead into the fourth quarter, but their Outer Cape opponents made a strong comeback with some timely threes, forcing overtime. In the end, the Vineyard took the loss. Read more
