The leader of the Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah, as well as Buddy Vanderhoop, a citizen that runs a charter fishing company, filed statements in support of an anti-wind group in Rhode Island fighting to stop the construction of Revolution Wind, the closest offshore wind development to the Island. Both tribal members say that they have suffered damages from the development. Read more

Mechanical issues with the Island Home, the largest ferry in the Steamship Authority fleet, led to several cancellations on Monday and Tuesday. The smaller freight vessel, the Katama, was brought in to substitute for the Island Home while the bigger boat underwent repairs. Read more

With the conclusion of fall sports, it’s onto the court, wrestling mat and ice rinks for the winter season. The boys' ice hockey team at MVRHS recently had some scrimmages as they prep ahead of their season opener against Nantucket on Saturday. Read more

Alpha-gal survey begins |
County health officials want to know what you think about the tick-borne illness alpha-gal syndrome. Everyone is encouraged to take this survey, but organizers are especially interested in responses from hunters. They are also exploring a partnership with the University of North Carolina for a larger study. Read more

For holiday music fans: the West Tisbury Congregational Church Handbell Choir is holding their winter performance tomorrow. The performance will include holiday selections as well as discussion of musical techniques and history. The choir plays 3 1/2 octaves of Chulmerich Handbells, and 3 octaves of Suzuki hand chimes.
