Christmas in Edgartown this past weekend featured a record 30 floats, and organizers told The Times that they were high-fiving over the high attendee turnout. Live music, livestock, and a lively spirit kept up Christmas cheer and helped local businesses. Read more

Tisbury is turning to Tighe & Bond company for a partial fix to flooding at the Five Corners intersection. This comes after the town indefinitely suspended a similar plan this fall due to a complex state permitting process. The current plan is in its early stages, but is meant to require less permitting. Officials are looking to fund additional design work in order to reach a point where they can seek state or regional funding for the rest of the project. Read more |

There are a number of articles on Tisbury’s town meeting tonight, but one that’s drawn the public's interest is a funding request for the Vineyard Haven library. Advocates want the town to borrow $4.4 million for their addition and renovation project. There could also be a debate on short-term rentals, and on allowing residents to build accessory dwelling units, known as in-law apartments. Read more

The Steamship commissioned its newest vessel today. The Barnstable will hold around 80 passengers and 50 vehicles. It comes with two 2,000-horsepower engines and three 950-horsepower thrusters.
