Walking toward healing

Annabelle Metell is a senior at the Vineyard high school. She has witnessed firsthand addiction in her family, and noticed the shame that comes when discussing the issue. But she also knows the relief that can come when talking about it. Through that, she held a walk Saturday for anyone in the community to partake. The show of support was impressive. Read more


Composting efforts ramp up

Oak Bluffs is pursuing over $2 million in grant funding to construct a commercial composter, and considering a smaller unit for residential food waste. The town sees the measures as economic and climate benefits, and the plans come on the heels of the Island's only organic waste processing program shutting down in September. Read more


Football: a tough loss, but Fenway is next

The Martha's Vineyard football team fell to Nauset 18–7 in their final home game of the season on Senior Night. Despite strong defensive efforts, turnovers and missed opportunities plagued the Vineyarders. Head Coach Tony Mottola took responsibility, saying the team wasn't fully prepared. The Vineyard now turns their focus to the Island Cup against Nantucket at Fenway Park on November 26. Read more


Stop & Shop troubles linger

It hasn’t been horrible, but Stop & Shop has had some vacant shelves over the last few days and week because of a cybersecurity issue with their corporate headquarters. A rep did not give us a timeline for when things could clear up, but they say that Thanksgiving meals shouldn’t be impacted. Read more
