Got a minute?
Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.
Tomorrow is the first full day of winter and the shortest day of the year. On the flip side, some of us may soon be waking up with the sun already set. Also, we have no newsletter tomorrow or Monday. We’re off for the holidays. Peace and merriness to all this weekend. If your friend sent you this, sign up for yourself here.
NOTE: This newsletter might be cut short by your email program. View it in full here.

New Art arriving daily. Open 7 days a week. A warm welcome awaits you.
For the Boys & Girls
MVYouth awarded a $1 million grant to the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club during a ceremony held Wednesday evening at the Edgartown library. The funding will help the club construct a new, 25,000 square-foot facility on land abutting the Club’s current location near the Edgartown School. Read that story
here.

Chilmark considers wastewater
The Martha's Vineyard Commission presented Chilmark with a "menu" of potential nitrogen remediation solutions for the town's four watersheds. Chilmark will consider matching conditions at its ponds to three solution areas: nitrogen reduction, remediation, and restoration. The commission wants to help each up-Island town plan for nitrogen remediation in coming years. Read more here.

Public safety improvements
The West Tisbury select board formed a committee to oversee potential improvements to the town’s public safety building. That could include solar panels and a new roof. But the project also calls for offering better options for firefighters and EMS workers that may be sleeping over at the town’s facility. Read that story here.
MEETINGS

The MVRHS School Committee meets Friday at 11 am. Here is the
agenda.

Festive foods
The holidays are about celebrating, and the heart of the festivities typically evolves around food, from traditions in the family or from those we create as adults. In this Abby Remer piece, she talks with Island chefs about their own customs. We hear from the executive chef at State Road in West Tisbury, the head chef at the Outermost Inn in Aquinnah, and others. Get some inspiration for your next gathering here.
