Record number of marine strandings

The Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe has documented a rise in marine strandings in 2024, the largest number of species and strandings they’ve ever reported. There is still a lot of uncertainty over what has caused the increase; it could be that the public is more cued in. But the local increase falls in line with a record number of strandings reported around Southeastern Massachusetts. Read more

Tisbury harbormaster among Edg. finalists

Edgartown has narrowed down its list of harbormaster finalists, and among them is Tisbury harbormaster Gary Kovack. The three remaining candidates highlighted their maritime experience and familiarity with the town. A decision is expected Monday. Read more

Basketball champs!

The Martha’s Vineyard 7th grade travel basketball team, the Vineyard Breakers, were welcomed back on the Island this weekend with much fanfare. The team capped off an impressive season by winning the New England State Championship’s Silver Division. Read more
