Got a minute?
Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.
Today is the 20th anniversary of the famous "wardrobe malfunction," also known as Nipplegate. Which must mean that the Super Bowl is around the corner. Go Patr … oh, wait. Nevermind. If your friend sent you this, sign up for yourself here.

Ballot field
West Tisbury will be bringing a question to voters this spring: do you prefer a grass or synthetic athletic field at the high school? The nonbinding ballot question will provide data for towns and school officials on what Islanders think. Read more here.
Tech issues
It’s been nearly two weeks since the Steamship Authority announced that it would be suspending its summertime reservation opening out of concern for their technology backend. While Islanders made reservations during the "Headstart" program, there were glitches. Some board members say it highlights a need for improvements. Read that story here.

Whale tow
A big team with multiple agencies hauled the body of a right whale that had washed ashore at Cow Bay and brought it to Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head land in Aquinnah. We have a reporter on scene as the newsletter is finalized, getting the sights and sounds of a necropsy of the whale. We will bring you updates on our website. Read our coverage here.

Waterfront House and Guesthouse, Chilmark Sponsored

Martha's Vineyard has many fine waterfront properties, but only a handful of exceptional ones. The Lee Family Compound is an exceptional, 3-acre waterfront property with breathtaking, unobstructed pond views from an elevated secure location, 750+ ft. of pond frontage, 48-ft. dock with separate mooring for easy access to Menemsha Pond and Vineyard Sound, and privacy without an abutter in view — all compliment the spacious, 5-bedroom, 5-bath, comfortable, well-built main house and the well-sited, 2-bedroom, 1-bath, contemporary guest house. The stunning views are everywhere, so 14 of the 16 rooms in both houses enjoy grand pond views. Because of the elevation, the sunsets, moonrises, and stargazing are some of the most remarkable the Island has to offer. The two-home compound can house 18 comfortably and is perfect for year-round family events. Come launch your canoe, kayak, or paddleboard from spring to fall; swim, clam, or sail from a private sandy beach off the point all summer long; sunbathe on your private dock or on 3 decks or on the terraced lawn overhanging the cove; and enjoy seasonal holidays by a roaring fire with extended family and loved ones. This compound is proof that a picture is worth a 1,000 words (see Video Aerial Tour).
Quote of the Day

Hot Topic Letter

The Edgartown library hosts Vintage Valentines Film Night: "L'Eclisse." Released in 1962, this one is a mix of classic Hollywood and French New Wave cinema. I’m not sure what that means, but there are English subtitles. 6 pm. –C.B.
Tomorrow: The Hebrew Center invites us to a welcoming shabbat service, followed by a Shabbat Dinner with an African-inspired Menu catered by Chef Ting. To register ahead, follow the instructions. I’m intrigued. 5:30 pm. –C.B.

Staying in?
What do salad dressing, pasta, hummus, fresh bread, and soup have in common? All of them would be enhanced in flavor by adding Roasted Garlic, a kid-friendly recipe by Island Grown Schools. The only other ingredients that you might need are a bit of imagination and a tin of mints.

Do you have a recipe to share with the community? Send it along with a photo of the dish and a brief backstory to recipes@mvtimes.com.
