COMMUNITY

The Oyster Book

HAPPENINGS

Today

Join writer Fan Ogilvie and retired biology professor Ursula Goodenough for a discussion of the overlap between poetry, memoir, and science. The conversation is inspired by Ogilvie’s new book series “Dust is the Only Secret,” which combines Goodenough’s writings on cellular biology with Ogilvie’s creative writing, paintings and memoir. Refreshments will be provided. This event is at 6 pm today at the Vineyard Haven Public Library, 200 Main Street, Vineyard Haven. Click here

Tomorrow

Toni Morrison’s written works — classics like “The Bluest Eye,” Beloved,” and more — are the focus of this six-part series from Lifelong Learning Swarthmore. Morrison is one of the 20th century’s most influential writers, and the winner of the Pulitzer and Nobel Prize, but you’ll also learn what her works mean to you. Free to Martha’s Vineyard Library patrons. Click here
