A return for Vineyard Wind blades

A spokesperson for the offshore wind developer confirmed that they have gotten approvals from the federal government to begin installing turbine blades again, after a blade malfunction in July set the project back. Federal officials indicated that blades will be approved on a case-by-case basis. Read more


Steamship reverses course on ads

The Steamship Authority has voted to rescind the ban on advertisements on its vessels, preserving a source of around $100,000 in annual revenue. The Steamship board's Martha's Vineyard representative Jim Malkin moved to restore the ferry line's ad policy, though he asked staff to monitor advertisements submissions. The vote comes after Vineyarders this summer took issue with an ad from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals that encouraged readers to avoid eating lobster, and pointed a finger at the lobster industry over harm to North Atlantic right whales. Vineyard hockey stuns Whalers

Vineyard high school hockey couldn't have had a much better time in Nantucket this past weekend, besting the rival Whalers 10-0. Many players logged "firsts" in the season opener. Ryan Heidt scored his first high school goal on his first shift of the game, and goaltender Henry Wansiewicz earned his first career shutout against a dozen shots. Read more
