The boys varsity swim team, coming off of an undefeated season and back-to-back league championships, will be sending a number of swimmers to the state championships next weekend. The sectionals were yesterday in Cambridge, and aside from the states, school records were broken. Read more


Hundred-unit development under commission review

Green Villa, a 100-unit 40B project, appeared before the Martha's Vineyard Commission on Thursday. Developer William Cumming said his goal is to build the project without subsidies or market-rate housing, but he is yet to reveal how that could be done. A civil case against the project brought by Oak Bluffs officials also presents challenges. Read more

What's new on Tap?

There’s a new bar coming to Vineyard Haven. M.V. Taps is moving into what used to be Golden Bull at Five Corners, possibly by April. Business owners originally wanted a self-serve bar without bartenders, but the town had something to say about that. Read more


Study ranks dangerous roadways

Five Corners topped a list of the Vineyard's most dangerous intersections in a road safety study for the M.V. Commission. Results and solutions for the Island's danger zones were presented last week, and include installing traffic lights and roundabouts. The commission is still collecting Vineyarders' input on which locations deserve more attention. Read more
