Hundreds of Vineyarders showed up at Five Corners as part of the nationwide Hands Off! rallies, in which millions protested against the Trump Administration and Elon Musk’s role in the federal government. Vineyarders brought their own signs and called for the president to keep his hands off of the Constitution, Social Security, and the stock market. Island organizers say to stay tuned for more events. Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s proposal to reinstate federal funding for a Vineyard veterans' counseling program never made it to the Senate floor for a vote. Senate staffers who spoke with the Times on condition of anonymity said Senate leaders chose which amendments would be voted on, and Warren’s amendment to help Island veterans didn’t make the cut. The Steamship ferry Eagle ran into a concrete dolphin on Saturday at the Nantucket terminal. No one was injured, according to the ferry line, and the boat was cleared to travel that day. The terminal's north slip will be closed while needed repairs are determined. The Steamship said it is conducting a thorough review and will release more information as it becomes available. After 27 years coaching the high school varsity hockey team, Matt Mincone announced his retirement last month, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, discipline, and accountability. The school will open their application process for new coaches by the end of the month, and many Island coaches will likely apply. Read more |
