$200 million

You're looking at one of over a dozen preliminary designs for the high school building project, and they're all subject to change. Yesterday, architects told school leaders that around $200 million is the low end for the project. On the high end, a new building could cost about $400 million. School officials will be reaching out to towns to see what their appetite is, but the discussion so far has leaned toward minimizing costs. Read more


Failure to reach a quorum

The first West Tisbury special town meeting of the month was adjourned before it even started because it failed to reach a quorum. Falling short just 39 people, all items on the agenda, some of which were high cost spending requests, are scheduled to be handled at the annual town meeting in April. Read more


Landing in South Carolina

A truck loaded with supplies at the Legion house last Wednesday has successfully traveled over a thousand miles to aid those in McCormick, South Carolina who have been greatly affected by Hurricane Helen. The two communities will forever be connected, finalized by a banner being hung at the Legion house with the names of McCormick individuals who received aid. Read more

The Library Board of Trustees invites the public to attend their upcoming information sessions about the library renovations and addition project. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the design team and see the latest plans for the project, planned for 2025. Each week there will be a fun food-themed activity or craft provided by the Martha's Vineyard Family Center. Located at the Oak Bluffs Public Library on 56R School St. for ages 2-6, drop-in play-time takes place from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and food-themed activity time takes place from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15.
