MARTHA GOES TO BEACON HILL
MV’s Housing Bank bill has arrived at the State House!
To put a face to this bill, we’re organizing a day of action called “Martha Goes to Beacon Hill”.
On this day, Thursday, March 23rd, we’ll
Take the 7am boat from VH to WH
Charter private buses to Beacon Hill
Meet with key legislators,
Hold a rally on the capitol steps
Then bus back to make the 3:45pm ferry in WH (arriving in VH around 4:15pm)
All are welcome! We’ll provide everyone who signs up/shows up with:
FREE round-trip ferry service
FREE round-trip bus service
FREE food
A FREE long sleeve t-shirt to wear
Diverse representation and big numbers are critical to our success, but they are not a given. This event falls on a Thursday, during legislative working hours – which also happen to be the working hours of those most affected by the housing crisis/whose attendance would mean the most. To reduce this friction:
We’re calling upon those businesses and institutions who have supported us in the past to encourage/ enable their employees’ attendance. This can take many different forms: being flexible about their work schedule, compensating them for time spent, etc. (Check out our social media feed to see whose already committed!)
We’re encouraging parents to bring their kids or pool their resources with group babysitting/after-school care.
We also welcome further suggestions for reducing friction via noah@ccmvhb.org. Our job is to support you! What will it take to get you and 2-3 friends there?
