Tragedy at Edgartown Great Pond A multiagency search for a missing paddle boarder last seen in Edgartown Great Pond Sunday evening has resulted in the recovery of the body of a 43-year-old man. His remains were found roughly 100 feet offshore, near the Katama estate of president Barack Obama. According to the Island’s public safety dispatch, the initial 911 call was made from the former president's home. Here’s that developing story.

Hot Topic Comment Marsha Shufrin
comments on MVRHS using private donations to fund its lawsuit against Oak Bluffs over a synthetic turf field: "This begs the question of why the Superintendent and School Committee would even ask for an extension on the MV Commission approval when clearly the majority of island voters are opposed to a turf field. One has to wonder about the integrity and intentions of committee members who are in favor of the project, who have gone to such lengths to push this through and are frivolously
spending taxpayer dollars and now, donations, in litigation."
Hot Topic Letter Ted Jochsberger writes to us about JetBlue’s handling of a flight from JFK to the MV airport: "I realize that JetBlue has a virtual monopoly on the routes to and from Martha’s Vineyard. However, the shabby treatment of passengers is unconscionable. Living on the Island, I have often recommended the airline to visitors. After this horrible experience, I will not do so in the future."
