Got a minute?
Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.
44 years ago today, one of the best punk rock albums graced the Earth — "London Calling" from the Clash. It only reached number 27 on the U.S. Billboard charts, but "the Guns of Brixton" is one heck of a track. If your friend sent you this, sign up for yourself here.

Fire in O.B.
Two firefighters responding to a structure fire in Oak Bluffs were injured last night. They were deemed okay after being taken to the hospital. No one else was injured. The fire was believed to originate in the engine of a vehicle before it spread to the structure. Four individuals there at the time were able to escape. Read more here.
State reporting a drought?
It has felt like a rainy summer and fall, but apparently that isn’t the case. The National Weather Service has reported rain amounts well below normal for the last three months, and the state announced that the Islands are in a significant drought, again. Water officials on the Island are urging us to not waste water. Read that story here.

Sand impounding Great Pond coves
West Tisbury's herring warden recently asked whether a permit for sand dumping near the great pond could be altered. The warden says that dumping contributes to sand accumulation at cove mouths, especially at Tiah and Deep Bottom coves. This leads to poor water flow and quality, and could harm herring and other species. The dumping was permitted at a private property to combat erosion. More on that here.

Waterview Land, West Tisbury Sponsored

The Tower Hill land, once known as the Dancing Hills, is considered by many a sacred Island space. Standing on the ridge top, you're at one of the highest points on Martha's Vineyard. This 3.01 acre parcel looks out over the trees of Red Farm and the dramatic blue expanse of Vineyard Sound. It's easy to understand why this property is so special. There's a generous designated building envelope of 1.41 acres to allow a Buyer to build a significant house with multi level views of the water as well as additional structures with proper permitting. Thoughtful planning and preparation of the Tower Hill Declaration for the area creates a deeded view easement and greenbelt area to preserve the serenity, privacy and experience of being surrounded by nature while still being minutes away from West Tisbury center. The abutting lots have already been developed, demonstrating the type of home, landscape, and view possible for 38 Fire Tower Road. The property is staked, and surveyed with paths cleared to make showing easy. NHESP requirements met. Perc test and well in.
