Got a minute?
Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.
Today marks the beginning of town meeting season as voters in Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and West Tisbury head to respective gatherings to make their voices heard. It’s true democracy in action, where any registered voter and resident can cast a vote — in the case of Edgartown, there are over 100 proposals. If your friend sent you this, sign up for yourself here.

Vineyard-bound
The summer season is just around the corner and the SSA is getting ready to introduce new vessels to the public. Two freight ferries, the Barnstable and the Aquinnah, will be running their routes in the coming months. They will be taking the places of the Gay Head and the Katama. Read more here.
Another principal retires
The principal of the Oak Bluffs School, Dr. Megan Farrell, announced that she will retire at the end of the summer. She’s been at the post for about nine years and an educator at the school for more than two decades. Farrell is the third principal to announce her retirement from an Island school in the last several months. Read our coverage here.

Eclipsed!
Islanders came out in force on Monday for the near-total solar eclipse, whether for viewing parties at public libraries, at the Martha's Vineyard Museum, or just outside their homes and workplaces. People recounted memories of past eclipses, and made new memories — some by getting married! Check out our photos of the Island's viewing parties, as well as close-ups of the eclipse from an attendee who brought his own astronomical equipment. Read more here.
