A flotilla protest
About 15 to 20 boats converged on the Vineyard Wind offshore construction site on Sunday in a show of protest against the development of the project and industry. The flotilla follows a recent blade failure. We had a reporter aboard one boat. Here’s what some of them were saying.
Pressley endorses Faria

New barge service approved
A new freight service has been approved for Vineyard ports. 41 North Offshore came to the Steamship Authority months ago asking to modify their license so they can deliver freight services between New Bedford and Martha’s Vineyard. Although there was some pushback, some conditions have been placed to appease concerns of Tisbury and Oak Bluffs representatives. Read more here.

Staying in?
Here's a celebration of late summer all in one dish: Pasta with Fresh Tomatoes, Corn, and Basil, a recipe by Maura Martin and Austin Racine for Island Grown Initiative. You can pick up vegetables and herbs at Farmers Markets around the Island.

To learn more about local food, join Chef Jenny Devivo for a Farm-to-Table Cooking Experience at the Trustees' Farm Institute. It includes touring the Friendship Garden, harvesting vegetables, and preparing a shared dinner. The next one is on Wednesday, August 28, at 5:30 pm, but there are also dates in September.

If you have a seasonal recipe to share with the community, send it to us at recipes@mvtimes.com along with a photo of the dish and a brief backstory if you have one.

What’s happening inside a cat?
