Rose
arraigned Former Oak Bluffs Fire Chief John Rose appeared at Edgartown District Court and pled not guilty to one count of photographing, videotaping, or electronically surveilling partially nude or nude person. Some questions still remain for the case and the judge set a $10,000 bail for Rose and ordered him to wear a GPS monitor. Get the

More tech problems Many people are aware of it at this point, but the Steamship Authority’s general summer reservations have been indefinitely delayed. Tech issues had also caused problems for the Headstart reservations. The ferry service will announce new summer reservation dates after its tech issues have been resolved, but there is no timeline for that at this stage. Read more here.

Station Menemsha held a celebration honoring the Islanders this past weekend. The two were called the unsung heroes of the station. Read that story here.

Quote of the Day "The ramifications of this housing crisis extend way beyond mere inconvenience. It is affecting our ability in law enforcement and public safety to retain qualified personnel, as they struggle to afford living in our community, accessible only by air and sea. The time to act is now." — Dukes
County Sheriff Bob Ogden testified at the state house this week in support of legislation aimed at producing more resource to housing Hot Topic Comment "If you are a supporter of the field this, is not neutral. A vote should not be needed as the school has done everything they have been asked to do, and passed every test, to get the field approved and built. Never has any project on the island needed an island wide vote to be approved, and one shouldn’t be needed now. Follow the laws within the town of OB, which has been done." — Patrick Cleary criticizes our editorial opinion supporting a Island-wide, non-binding ballot question for or against the turf field Hot Topic Letter "Captain Ralph Packer Senior was reputedly the original owner of the lovely Victorian Tashmoo summer Inn, prior to its deliberate destruction by fire in the mid 1950’s. My historic 1880 home adjacent to it was his own family residence. To assail this area holding such a significant
background of local history further might be considered a tragedy." — Doreen Kinsman writes to us about concerns with the expansion of the Montessori school in Vineyard Haven
