Today is National Kite-Flying Day. That feels a bit more an activity for warmer days, but who are we to judge? It’s also National Boy Scout Day. Is there a merit

Equity goalsVineyard schools are undergoing an equity audit in what officials say will help them identify where they could find gaps in their service, and where they have been successful. The announcement of the audit comes after a school committee meeting in Edgartown where parents expressed concerns about some students not getting the attention they deserve, with resources going to high needs students. Read that story here.

Two-in-one for the Cliffs?Aquinnah's climate and energy committee is pursuing a grant to fund anti-erosion research, and
the same grant could also help fund the return of the Aquinnah Shop property to Wampanoag ownership. The committee hopes to eliminate the erosive effects of groundwater seeping out of the Cliffs by developing advice from when the lighthouse was moved in 2015. Read more here.

Boldwater Waterfront Estate, Edgartown Sponsored Spectacular 35 acre Boldwater Association waterfront estate on Edgartown Great Pond with breathtaking views over 1,000 ft wide low brushy pond front terrain and across the 3/4 mile wide Lyles Bay, dreamy Swan Neck Point, the 1 1/2 mile wide main pond and barrier beach to the ocean beyond. The handful of well pruned trees on the property enhance the water views. The sophisticated and charming quality house was built by Andrew Flake, arguably the finest Vineyard builder over the last 40 years. Mark Hutker created an innovative design with an arc shape nautical theme so every room faces the water. The 3 second floor bedrooms enjoy large terraces and the first floor primary bedroom opens to a nice deck and quiet garden sanctuary. The handmade luxury kitchen cabinetry and extensive woodworking were done by Smallbone, a British Company noted for time honored design and craftsmanship.
Adding to this estate, reflecting decades of careful planning and development, is a lovely private pool and pool house, 4 room guest suite over the garage with large deck, two stone wall enclosed specimen fruit tree meadows, a large field circled by a grand stone wall, a idyllic lily pond and two miles of private trails.

Quote of the Day "It was an honor working with Rez [...] Such a thoughtful, intelligent, and creative guy. He will be missed." –Brandon O’Neil, colleague of artist and conservationist Rez Williams, on Williams’ passing this weekHot Topic Comment"Our culture of over-accommodation to the lowest uncommon denominator — in which the system elevates unprepared students to a "special" status that undermines their prepared peers — is a recipe for cultural resentment and nativist revolt." –A.F. Cook, on frustrations over Edgartown School resources diverted towards teaching EnglishHot Topic Letter"Our housing crisis is too great for us as a community to retreat to a defense of our viewpoints, to the detriment of progress. Too much needs to be done to defer action to the future. The crisis is today." –Healthy Aging Martha’s Vineyard nonprofit organization chair Bob Laskowski said in support of proposed older adult housing in West Tisbury
