A dead North Atlantic right whale was found washed ashore in Edgartown on Monday. A team is at Cow Bay to figure out what to do with the carcass. It is uncertain what caused the whale’s death at this time. Read more here.

Tough turf
The Oak Bluffs planning board filed in land court late Friday signifying that they would be withdrawing their appeal of the turf field. The board had been fighting the construction of a turf field at the Vineyard high school, but a recent judge’s decision set their efforts back. After appealing the decision, they’ve gotten some pushback from town leaders. Read that story here

Officials with the Vineyard Montessori School will be before the Martha’s Vineyard Commission on Thursday, looking for approval to build a new building on their Vineyard Haven campus. The school is looking to add a number of new classrooms to help them address a shortage of childcare across the Island, and they’ve gotten a lot of support, and some pushback. Read that story here.
