Criticism intensifies, Edgartown readies
With more debris falling from the broken Vineyard Wind turbine blade, Edgartown remains cautious about potential debris coming ashore here. Town and environmental officials say debris from the Vineyard Wind turbine may have come ashore Thursday evening. We also reported on a small protest in Vineyard Haven. Read more about the latest concerns and increased criticism on Vineyard Wind here.
The PETA wars
In our latest reporting on the Steamship Authority and PETA, the Steamship board has decided it will no longer be taking new advertisements. As you recall, a particular PETA ad roiled some Islanders. Now, $100,000 out of annual ad revenue, we wonder who are the winners: the SSA or the lobsters. Read our latest here.

The Good
The location of a former historic souvenir shop on the corner of Oak Bluffs Avenue and Kennebec Avenue has a new operation coming to its bright yellow storefront, likely this month. Emily Pires and Elena Hristu depart from the New York fashion and music scene to open the Good Shoppe, a sweets shop offering a variety of candies sourced nationally and internationally. Read more here.

Safe structured living on-Island
Vineyard House provides a structured living environment for people working through recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. On the Island, there is a need for a safe living space for Islanders in early stages of recovery who are returning from off-Island treatment centers. In 2014, Vineyard House built a new campus designed for group living, including private and semi-private bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, laundry facilities, and common areas. Vineyard House runs on the support of committed employees, volunteers, and partnerships with Island organizations, including Island Counseling Center and Island Wide Youth Collaborative. They recently held their annual Water Tasting by the Sea fundraiser on the Edgartown Harbor. Read more about Vineyard House and their fundraising event here.
