Got a minute?
Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.

A tabernacle full of stories
If you know, you know. The Moth Radio Hour is often heard on NPR where random people tell random — and often rich — stories to a live audience. It was on the Vineyard this weekend, where we heard stories about Island fishing, postpartum depression, and a nude photoshoot on Nantucket. If you missed it, get the sights and sounds of the show here.

An exemption for locals
Should West Tisbury implement a tax exemption for year-round residents at the expense of seasonal residents? That is a question town officials are pondering. Currently, the town is trying to see which residents would be able to qualify for the exemption. Although there is some time before the West Tisbury select board decides on whether to make the property tax change, the issue has already shown a schism in the up-Island town community. Read more here.

An early exit
The MV Sharks had a tough season that ended on Saturday. After letting go of their coach early in the season, they made a commendable run. After a default last week, they found a way to punch a ticket to the postseason. But unfortunately they were matched up with the 1 seed, and they couldn’t pull off a win. Read that here. Also somewhat related: there was a shark spotted over the weekend off Edgartown. Read that story here.
MEETINGS

The Chilmark select board meets Tuesday at 6 pm. Here is the agenda.

Staying in?
A key ingredient to many dishes is at its peak in late summer, but you can preserve the bounty with Roasted Plum Tomatoes, by cookbook author Catherine Walthers. They can be used for pasta, soup, rice, salad, and much more.

For a large variety of locally grown food, including tomatoes, check out the Farmers Markets around the Island.
