‘A good picture of the Island’ The Martha’s Vineyard Commission released an updated version of its Dukes County statistical profile this month. The 150-page report consists of thousands of data sets related to Island demographics, economy, housing, energy, and a number of local industries, just to name a few. Using information collected from dozens of sources, the regional planning and permitting agency has been able to generate a pretty good picture of what’s dubbed Martha’s Vineyard "in numbers." More on that report here.

Quote of the Day "We’ve got a lot of bulbs. The idea: We want to try to cover Vineyard Haven, and then grow from here. So this will be like the ground zero for ‘Daffodil Haven,’ and then it’ll spread." — Melly Meadows McCutcheon on her effort to plant thousands of daffodils around the IslandHot Topic Comment"I love this story and MMM’s passion for giving. She is inspirational and kind. Her energy is infectious. Kudos to her and the planting team!" — Melissa Nellis Paterson comments on the effort to blast the Island
with flowersHot Topic Letter"Where I am now, north of Tel Aviv, we still get sirens, and see the interceptions over our heads. I have friends who died or were injured at the Nova
party. Yet still, we persist. Despite what the Greeks, Babylonians, Romans, Ottomans, Germans, and a host of other countries tried, we remain." — Am Yisrael Chai writes to us about his experience from Israel

Today: Jenny Allen and Mona Hennessy co-host Online Show Biz Trivia Night via the M.V. Playhouse. This is something I might be able to excel at. I remember Joseph Cotton. Free. Follow Zoom directions. 6 pm. –Connie Berry The Film Center screens "Singin’ in the Rain." Patrons were asked which big-screen musical they’d love to see and this one was the winner. I could watch Gene Kelly dance all night long. 7:30 pm. –C.B.

Tomorrow: Piano man extraordinaire David Stanwood tickles the ivories for a Sunset Concert at the West Tisbury library. (I need to stop going to bed at 8:30 and maybe get out a little bit more. I don’t think anyone younger than 50 knows what tickling the ivories means.) 4 pm. –C.B.
