Dispute jeopardizes Vineyard criminal cases
A judge has thrown out a criminal case after a bitter dispute between the Cape and Islands district attorney and the Dukes County sheriff. At least nine other criminal prosecutions are now at risk, according to court records in Edgartown District Court. Read more here.

Trustees reignite fight over OSV access on Chappy
After seemingly concluding a months-long struggle for over-sand vehicle, or OSV, access on parts of Chappaquiddick, the Trustees on Friday filed two appeals to the state Department of Environmental Protection to gain more say in how they run their properties. The Trustees say the Edgartown conservation commission overstepped its legal authority when it imposed strict condintions on them. Read more here.

"Irretrievable breakdown"
This is why Edgartown defense attorney Robert Moriarty asked a judge to let him withdraw from a Vineyard case involving his client, Jared Ravizza. The judge agreed. Moriarty represented the 26-year-old after he was charged with assaulting his father in West Tisbury in April. Ravizza now has been charged with stabbing six people, including four minors, in two seemingly random attacks in Braintree and Plymouth last weekend. He is in custody and undergoing a court-order psychiatric evaluation. Read more here.
