Homeless encampment clearing reignites old concerns
The Dukes County Commission aired their complaints Wednesday about management of the State Forest by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation. Journalism that matters, where you need it, when you need it. Want more?

Newly built, custom home located in Katama, just a short walk to Edgartown and a quick bike ride to South Beach. A new owner will appreciate the thought and attention to detail that has been incorporated into this home, which was designed and built by an experienced building company, Speedwagon Partners. Featuring a combination of contemporary design and expertly crafted details, like bespoke cabinetry, porcelain and quartz surfaces, and white oak flooring, the home instantly feels very luxurious and elegant. There are a total of four bedrooms and four full baths, plus two half-baths and two laundry rooms. The living spaces are open to each other, yet also defined, with an abundance of natural light, thanks to oversized windows and high ceilings. The living room fireplace, Wolf and Thermador kitchen appliances, and a 10-foot quartz island are just some of the features that make this property stand out. A finished lower-level completes the home, and the property is well-landscaped, focusing on a gunite pool and a hot tub with tasteful stonework, plus a gas fire pit and decking.

Staying in?
Here's a fun recipe where you basically mix together granola ingredients and call it a dessert: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Balls, shared by Connie Berry. The hardest part is waiting for them to cool down after they come out of the oven.

To learn how to make flaky baked goods, take the class on Sweet or Savory Scones with Chef Melissa McCullough. You'll gather herbs and berries from the Trustees' Farm Institute's garden, prepare the pastries in the farm kitchen, and take home half a dozen. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 5:30 pm.

If your culinary adventures lead to a recipe to share with the community, send it to us at recipes@mvtimes.com along with a photo of the dish and a brief backstory if you have one.
