Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.
The Martha's Vineyard Times hopes you are having a bee-utiful World Bee Day. Did you know that a 2021 study in the Journal of the Kansas (go figure!) Entomological Society identified 209 bee species in Dukes County? A couple bees made their way into my room today, and were safely
escorted back outside. If you can support the pointy pollinators in your own garden, consider this list of the best plants and practices for our native bees.If your friend sent you this, sign up for yourself here.
The need for more island wide, affordable, year-round housing is urgent. You can help. Click this link to donate today.
Google Maps errors persist Google Maps now correctly labels Beach Road, but users of its Street View feature will still see the road named as "Anchor Way." And Google places one Vineyard Haven restaurant in Edgartown instead. Check that out here.
Calling public school students Students will have the chance to give feedback on their education as the next step in the district's equity audit. Permission slips for the focus group are being sent to parents this month. The findings of this audit, meant to review school policies and practices for fairness
toward students of all backgrounds, will be made public in the fall. Read more here.
Prom night! It’s a culmination of Vineyard students’ four years in high school: the prom! Students gathered on Saturday to take photos, dance the night away, and make lasting memories with their friends. Read more here.
