Got a minute?
Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.
It’s The Monkees’ drummer Micky Dolenz’s 78th birthday today, the only surviving member of the band. Hopefully he’s got a few more rides left on that Last Train to Clarksville. And we celebrate Barbara Dudley Davis and Irene Ziebarth today . . . because it’s National Proofreaders Day! If your friend sent you this, sign up for yourself here.

Today: Artist Paul Lazes always has interesting work. This time it’s his Cardboard Upcycle Exhibit at the M.V. Playhouse artspace. Check it out from 5 to 6 pm. –Connie Berry

I love this idea: The No Book Book Club meets at the Oak Bluffs library. No pressure to read a 400-pager, just a good discussion group about essays and short stories. 5:30 pm. –C.B.
Tomorrow: Catch singer-songwriter Maryse Smith live at the Edgartown library. She has a new album out, so I bet she'll be playing tunes from it. I love live music, even though both my dancing and my singing aren’t pretty. 5:30 pm. –C.B.

Happy Oral Health Month
To many peoples’ surprise, Martha’s Vineyard is considered a "level two rural community," a distinction shared with only 20 percent of the nation. With this designation, the Island experiences unique challenges surrounding healthcare access. The Dukes County Health Council wants folks to be aware of the ways they can receive dental care. One organization providing this invaluable service is Island Health Care, which gets a significant amount of grant funding from Martha’s Vineyard’s rural designation. Read all about these services and more here.
