Musical ferries? A proposal by Beach Road Weekend promoter Adam Epstein to have a ferry diverted from Oak Bluffs to Vineyard Haven during the three-day music festival got some pushback from the Steamship Authority board on Tuesday. Epstein asked for the diversion for safety reasons in helping concert goers get off the Island. Reporter Rich Saltzberg has this story.
Lyme dancing Last week, we told you about Pfizer’s plans to conduct clinical research on the Island for a Lyme disease vaccine. On Monday, the company received permission from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School’s committee to park their
trailer at the high school football field parking lot to conduct the research. Meanwhile, the board also discussed next steps in the process of getting into the state funding process for a new high school. Reporter Lucas Thors has this update.
Veteran moves At a picnic held Saturday at the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury, veterans were provided with information about affordable housing that’s in the works in Oak Bluffs. Along with housing, there would be services to assist the veterans on site. Saturday was also an opportunity to recognize some of the folks who go to bat for veterans on a regular basis.
