We experienced a snafu with our print newspaper delivery this morning that will affect a small batch of subscribers, who won’t be getting the newspaper in their mailboxes until tomorrow. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued
support! Today is also the day the Earp brothers faced off against the Clanton-McLaury gang in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral in 1881. If your friend sent you this, sign up for yourself here.

Affordable senior housing? To fulfill West Tisbury's request to house people 55 and over, the Island Housing Trust (IHT) is asking Vineyard towns for a combined $1.4 million in Community Preservation Act (CPA) grants for a nine-apartment neighborhood. IHT officials say the project would be the Island's first neighborhood of year-round, affordable rentals for that age group. Read more here.

No foul in Lyme clinic Care Access, the organization that was sponsoring a number of clinical trials for the Lyme disease vaccine, including the one on the Vineyard, announced recently that they’ve been cleared of any good clinical practice violations by the Food and Drug Administration. Earlier this year, Care Access was accused by drug company Pfizer for violations, resulting in the discontinuation of the trial in 19 locations and a federal investigation. Here’s that update.

Voices of VeteransIn the latest edition of our Voices series, we hear from Island veterans in their own words. They are a diverse group of people who served in
the armed services in several foreign wars. Some tell us how they were treated after returning from Vietnam, others about their struggles with PTSD, and still others about how grateful they are to have been in the military. Read their stories here.

Edgartown Waterfront Estate, Sponsored
Spectacular 35-acre Boldwater Association waterfront estate on Edgartown Great Pond with breathtaking views over 1,000 ft. wide, including a low, brushy pond in the front terrain, the 3/4-mile wide Lyles Bay, dreamy Swan Neck Point, the 1 1/2-mile wide main pond, and a barrier beach to the ocean beyond. The handful of well-pruned trees on the property enhance the water views. The sophisticated and charming quality house was built by Andrew Flake, arguably the finest Vineyard builder over the last 40 years. Mark Hutker created an innovative design with an arc-shape nautical theme, so every room faces the water. The 3
second-floor bedrooms enjoy large terraces, and the primary bedroom on the first floor opens to a nice deck and a quiet garden sanctuary. The handmade, luxury, kitchen cabinetry and extensive woodworking were done by Smallbone, a British Company noted for time-honored design and craftsmanship. Adding to this estate, reflecting decades of careful planning and development, is a lovely private pool and pool house, 4-room guest suite over the garage with a large deck, two stone-wall-enclosed specimen fruit tree meadows, a large field circled by a grand stone wall, an idyllic lily pond, and two miles of private trails. Last but not least, are 14+ abutting sub-dividable acres into potentially 3-4 lots. Keep boats and small craft on your mooring at the water's edge for a short trip to the 3,000 ft. Boldwater private beach. Boldwater is 30 homesites on 450 acres with 150 acres of conservation, and it abuts approximately 1,500 acres of conservation lands and a few large
estates. A most remarkable rural area convenient to town and the airport.

From Greece to NYC to Martha's Vineyard comes a recipe passed down for generations: Big Yia Yia's Avgolemono Soup, shared by Alisun Armstrong in a story about the Milionis family's escape during
the Greek Civil War in 1947. Despite everything happening at the time, one of things that was packed was a hand-crank eggbeater. The soup is that good.
If you'd like to share a recipe with the community, send it to us at recipes@mvtimes.com, and include a photo of the dish and a
brief backstory if you have one.

Now is the timeWho doesn’t love Nancy Aronie’s writing? This week she asked us, "What happened to your dreams?" Maybe you have some unfinished business, and where you ended up is not where you dreamt you’d be. Well, Aronie writes that we shouldn’t give up on our dreams, especially if it was someone else who let us know our dreams weren’t worth pursuing. Read the latest Writing from the Heart here.
