In celebration of Black History Month, we give a nod to Hank Aaron, one of the greatest baseball players of all time, who was born this day 90 years ago in Mobile, Alabama. After a brief stint in the Negro Leagues, Aaron would go on to hit the most home runs in the majors, surpassing Babe Ruth with his 715th homer in 1974. The new dates announced for the opening follows technical glitches when Islanders booked reservations in January, and years of technical problems when reservations for the summer are opened. All the Vineyarders have to do is seal a victory tomorrow or later this week, and the title is theirs. From all reports, the boys dominated against their rivals Nantucket on Saturday, getting a little revenge from a TD Garden loss. Read that story here.

Her struggle has deeply shaken me. Knowing there was a ceremony for this entangled right whale offers me comfort and I am thankful." — Annie Withey comments on our coverage of a right whale washing ashore on the Vineyard and a ceremony held by Aquinnah tribe membersHot Topic Letter"The proposed measures are a direct attack on our constitutional right to bear arms. While the intention may be to address concerns about gun violence, the current approach does little to prevent criminals from obtaining firearms, and instead disproportionately affects law-abiding citizens." — Michael J.
