Got a minute?
Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.
Today is gray and rainy, but one way to think about it is that we're having cooler weather after recent high temperatures. May 30 is also National E-bike Day, and The Martha's Vineyard Times wishes safe and speedy travels to everyone out on the road today. According to Visit MV, Martha's Vineyard has nearly 50 miles of bike trails across nine total paths. The State Forest Loop looks like a memorable outing. Stabbing suspect tied to the Island
Jared Ravizza, who has lived on the Vineyard, was charged with multiple felonies for a bloody stabbing spree on the South Coast over the weekend, and police still want to question him in connection with a homicide in Connecticut. He fled police in a high-speed chase and was arrested in Sandwich. A judge has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for Ravizza, who is being held at Bridgewater State Hospital, to determine whether he is mentally fit to stand trial. The MV Times, the first news organization to break the news about his Island connection, is still trying to put together the broken pieces of his life and looking within the Island to ask how Ravizza fell through the cracks. Aquinnah unveils Carl Widdiss Way apartments
Islanders gathered to celebrate the completion of four affordable apartments in Aquinnah. Construction began last August and the new property will contribute to keeping more residents on the Island. The project is named after Carl Widdiss, a former Aquinnah select board member and elder of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head, Aquinnah. Read more here.

The Rebecca Amos plaque is back
The African American Heritage Trail is complete again, as the trail has just replaced a plaque honoring a woman enslaved in Chilmark in the 18th century. The trail marker for Rebecca Amos was first reported stolen back in April. Heritage Trail leadership said Islanders' support has been vital, as the replacement plaque is thanks to a Chilmarker's anonymous donation. A dedication ceremony for Amos' plaque is planned for this week. Read more here.

An exceptional waterfront opportunity on the Tisbury Great Pond with two homes and a permitted dock where one can keep a boat, and motor out to the south shore Atlantic sandy beach. There are strong views of the water from both the main home and guest house where one can enjoy the abundant bird and pond life, fishing and tranquility that this coveted location offers. The air conditioned main home has four bedrooms and two full, plus one half bathrooms. There's a screened porch on the the south westerly corner - a perfect spot for sunset! There's also a bonus den/sunroom with wet bar on the south side of the home. The layout is all on one level, plus there's a huge unfinished basement and back up generator for both homes. The two bedroom, two bathroom guest house has a three bedroom septic and nice separation from the main home plus lovely water views from the farmers porch. A new roof, windows and cedar shingle siding were completed in Spring 2024. Both homes offer existing infrastructure to live in now, renovate or ultimately rebuild the home of your dreams, with virtually unobstructed views of the pond that are ready to enjoy. Conveniently close to West Tisbury village, Alleys and to Edgartown/West Tisbury Road.
