Water quality vs. wallet
Tisbury Board of Health regulations set to go into effect at the beginning of next year will require new, nitrogen-removing technology at the time of sale of a property. Inspectors say these systems can range up to $50,000, not including regular monitoring costs. The regulations are part of a much wider plan to address nitrogen contamination in local estuaries, and proponents say the technology is a cheaper alternative to some systems. Read more here.
Navigator Homes
The proposed Navigator Homes project, an on-Island skilled nursing facility with workforce housing, received the greenlight for its revised septic plans from Edgartown’s board of health this week. Navigator representatives say the approval brings the project a step closer to their goal of addressing the Island’s senior housing needs. Here’s that update.

Quote of the Day
"I am an avid pickleball player, and I hope that the town will not proceed with a ban on pickleball courts. Noise issues could be addressed via the permitting process (siting of the court, proximity of neighbors, landscaping), without going all the way to a ban."
—Peter Bruce on the
proposed ban on the construction of pickleball courts in Chilmark

Hot Topic Letter
Tom Dresser writes to us about the annual exchange program with students from West Tisbury and the Bridgewater School in England: "Thirty-five Brits are partnered with eighth graders to learn and share each other’s culture. Their first stop on an Island tour was Morning Glory Farm, where they got a peek into the back of the store, then witnessed a pumpkin launched into the fields by a trebuchet, as in medieval times. The week has been filled with historical tours and memorable experiences."
Today: Ah, hope springs eternal. Watch "Never too Late for Love" at the M.V. Film Center. You never know when Cupid will strike with that arrow. 7:30 pm. –Connie Berry

Need a little de-stress time before you fall asleep? Me too, and I found out it doesn’t involve something covered in chocolate. Try Yoga Nidra to help you with your sleep. 8:30 pm. –C.B.
Tomorrow: Want to learn about the Health Benefits of Drinking Tea? I’m interested. Dietitian Judy Palken tells us about it in an online presentation via the Edgartown library. Follow directions to register. 5:30 pm. –C.B.
