How sweep it is
West Tisbury was the first town meeting to approve the housing bank proposal and it was a positive omen for the affordable housing initiative. Both Edgartown and Oak Bluffs passed the article with ease. In Tisbury, there was a movement to amend the article, but that failed and that town followed the lead of the other three towns. While it was a big first step, the article also needs to pass at town elections. Editor George Brennan has the details, along with his team of reporters. Three towns go to the polls on Thursday on the Island. West Tisbury has a three-way race for a one-year term on the select board. Oak Bluffs has a three-way race for a three-year term on the select board. And Edgartown has no races, but of course will be voting on the housing bank question.

Back in court
It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from assistant district attorney Laura Marshard, the former disgraced prosecutor from Edgartown District Court. For her first court appearance, Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe had her appear in court for a case that was being defended by Rob Galibois — a Democratic candidate seeking to replace O’Keefe. Colorful views You probably know her best as the climate change guru for the Martha’s Vineyard Commission, but Elizabeth Dolan Durkee is showing another side. Durkee has been taking closeups of the
architectural details at the Campground cottages. “The dynamic photos, now on display at the Oak Bluffs library, spotlight various nooks and crannies of the famed gingerbread cottages in super-saturated colors,” wrote Gwyn McAllister. You can read more here.
