On this day 78 years ago, U.S. and allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, in the

Celebrating success The 15 members of the Class of ‘22 at Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School were celebrated Sunday with a commencement ceremony at the school. All of the students were recognized for their individual contributions by the Charter School during the ceremony. (These kids really do some interesting stuff in their time on the West Tisbury campus.) Reporter Abigail Rosen has this story.

Records runaround
The Times has been in a battle to get records from Dukes County Sheriff Robert Ogden’s office from 2011. While Ogden was not the sheriff at the time, he is in control of the records and hired attorney Jack Collins to fight the release of the visitor logs. Once the state Supervisor of Records asked to see the records, Collins reported to the supervisor that the records could not be located. Reporter Rich Saltzberg has the details.

Changing suit After the MVRHS school committee announced plans to file an appeal against the Oak Bluffs planning board, there were many folks who called on the committee to rethink that position. Well, they have in a way. They’ve rethought which counsel to hire for the appeal. The first attorney had an apparent conflict, which the committee refused to specify. Instead, at a rare Friday midday meeting, the committee voted to rescind his hiring and to seek the help of another attorney instead. Reporter Lucas Thors has this story.

Hot Topic Letter Zeke Vought wrote to say the majority was not heard during the artificial surface debate. "Thank goodness someone is stepping in to hold this misguided, biased cancellation of a project to task. This is wanted by the majority of the public, as well as (generalization) most people who have ever played on these fields. The same thing has been done for these fields since it was installed. it’s obvious by the history grass isn’t maintainable."

In this season, where we are celebrating so many different folks who have graduated from college and from high school, there is another program worth recognizing. The Martha’s Vineyard Center for Education and Training and Bristol County Community College collaborated to offer a certificate program for those interested in entering an emerging field. The ceremony was held at Nomans in Oak Bluffs. Reporter Rich Saltzberg has that story.
